Air conditioners and comfort fans

1. Scope

This Regulation establishes requirements for the labelling and the provision of supplementary product information for electric mains-operated air conditioners with a rated capacity of ≤ 12 kW for cooling, or heating, if the product has no cooling function.

2. Exemptions

This Regulation shall not apply to:

a) appliances that use non-electric energy sources;

b) air conditioners of which the condensor- or evaporator-side, or both, do not use air for heat transfer medium.

3. Measurement methods

The information to be provided under Article 3 shall be obtained by reliable, accurate and reproducible measurement procedures, which take into account the recognised state of the art calculation and measurement methods, as set out in Annex VII.

4. Entry into force and application

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. 2. It shall apply from 1 January 2013.
