Ecodesign
1. Scope
This Regulation lays down ecodesign requirements for the placing on the market or the putting into service of electric mains-operated and gas-fired household tumble dryers. It also applies to built-in household tumble dryers, multi-drum household tumble dryers and electric mains-operated household tumble dryers that can also be powered by batteries.
2. Exemptions
This Regulation shall not apply to:
household washer-dryers and household spin-extractors;
tumble dryers within the scope of Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council;
battery-operated household tumble-dryers that can be connected to the mains through an AC/DC converter purchased separately.
The requirements in Sections 2 and 3, and Section 6, points (1)(a) and (1)(b) of Annex II shall not apply to household tumble dryers with a rated capacity for the eco programme of 3 kg or less.
3. Conformity assessment
The conformity assessment procedure referred to in Article 8 of Directive 2009/125/EC shall follow the internal design control system set out in Annex IV to that Directive or the management system set out in Annex V to that Directive.
4. Entry into force and application
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
It shall apply from 1 July 2025. However, Article 6 shall apply from 12 December 2023.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
